We’ve all reached that moment in our lives. For me it’s been a rough day, finally escaped work at 6 p.m., and absolutely had to do the laundry, not a clean sock left that my shoes would tolerate.
For you, it’s probably been a long day pounding the NYC pavement with an inexorable enthusiasm to see it all. Now it’s 7 p.m. and you’re flopped on the bed, empty stomach growling. The last thing we both want to do is scare up some grub. But where to call for some no frills honest to goodness food delivered pronto? Consider Zaitzeff.
If you’re in the Lower East Side or Financial District, you’re in luck. Peter, Zachary, and Amine Zaitzeff specialize in hamburgers much like the ones you make for yourself only better. Everything is organic meaning the American style Kobe beef comes straight from select farms in Nebraska, the grass-fed sirloin is ground onsite daily, and the hand-cut fries (either regular or sweet potato) are crisped to a golden brown perfection in cast iron skillets slicked with fresh oil. All burgers are nestled in a Portuguese muffin topped with your choice of ripe red tomatoes, horseradish cream, thick avocado slices, or fresh greens. For those bucking the carnivorous route, their veggie burgers are a far cry from the lifeless, pasty supermarket variety.
