Here’s some whipped cream with a zing, Whipped Lightning‘s alcohol-infused whipped cream right out of a can! I know, you’re already thinking that whip-its and jello shots just got super-charged…and you are right! With an average alcohol content of 18.25% you can of course simply stick the nozzle in your mouth and spray yourself into a drunken stupor.
But for the more…ahem…sophisticated among us…now cut the giggling…,Whipped Lightning’s numerous flavors like strawberry colada, spiced vanilla, and even limited edition pumpkin pie can make mixed drinks and desserts a whole lot more refined and flavorful. Try it on shots & shooters, cocktails, martinis, coffees, or frozen beverages as well as spicing up ice cream and pie.
The bad news it’s still not available in 33 states but they are working hard to expand the market. You can
buy it online (usually vendors showcase one flavor so you have to shop around), but be prepared to pay a premium…like over $10 a can.
To serve, shake it up and spray just like a regular can of cream but the key distinction is that Whipped Lightning never needs to be refrigerated. As a matter of fact refrigeration will cause the alcohol to separate from the cream creating a mess. Don’t worry though, refrigeration won’t hurt it. Just let it return to room temperature and all will be fine since it’s infused with grain alcohol and pressurized inside a sterile environment. Although it won’t go bad sitting out on a hot summer day, you should store it somewhere around 70 degrees.
Begin your experiment with what they call a Drinksert. Simply take 1 ½ ounces of your favorite liqueur and top with your flavor of choice. Check out the recipe to your right to get started and please do let me know what you come up with.
