Who said ice cream is only a summer treat? Any time of the year is great for sampling the 12 authentic Asian flavors that Mikawaya’s Mochi Ice Cream now has in its lineup. Black Sesame, Cookies & Cream, Matcha Green Tea, Mint Chip, and Plum Wine are 5 of their newest flavor experiences.
A 104-year-old family-run Los Angeles-based business that has consistently specialized in creating fine Japanese pastries and desserts, Mikawaya is named after founder Ryuzaburo Hashimoto’s hometown in the Mikawa Province of Japan. Mikawaya’s Mochi ice creams aren’t served on a cone, stick, or bowl but enrobed in a chewy, marshmallow-like rice dough similar to other more traditional Asian bean pastries.
No worries if you’re not near an Asian grocery to pick some up because Mikawaya’s Mochi is now also selling via their site. And for an extra-sweet reward, all cases ordered online can take advantage of a coupon and get a free Mikawaya Mochi Ice Cream t-shirt.
