Is it too much to expect that convenience foods like chicken tenders should actually be healthy for you? Not if you ask Chef Jen Johnson at newly launched Hip Chick Farms who hand prepares and sells chicken fingers, meatballs, wings, and stock. This product lineup reflects the fact that she uses the whole chicken with no waste. The chickens are pasture-raised, humanely treated, and fed a high quality vegetable diet with no animal by-products or additives. No hormones, antibiotics, or fillers to be found in these birds! She then freezes and ships direct from Ramblin Rose, her family farm she shares with partner Serafina and daughter Rubyrose in Sebastopol, California.
For the past twenty years, Chef Jen worked with great chefs and food revolutionaries like Alice Waters at Chez Panisse and serving as the Executive Private Chef in the home of Ann & Gordon Getty. When Mrs. Getty started a Montessori school in her home, Jen’s role expanded to cooking family style lunches
for roughly 25 children each day. These school kids loved her food so much they begged their moms for Chef Jen’s Chicken Fingers in the evening for dinner. This popular demand was largely responsible for inspiring her to establish Hip Chicks Farm and sell her handy work directly to the public.
But to reach the next level, Chef Jen needs your help. She explains in her video exactly what equipment they need to purchase to make their goals of increased distribution a reality.
